Coach decision - Danny Ward appointed head coach

Club have just posted an announcement stating that they hope to announce what’s happening on Wednesday.

Can only see a couple of options either we bring back Powell on a temporary basis or look at getting Kear at Cas.

i think Kear is the only option as Powel probably made a few enemies when he left cas

My gut feeling from the “someone taking on the role” statement is tat we’ll get an interim ‘coach’ until season’s end when hopefully, the search for a long-term appointment can be made and we can plan for the future, where ever that may be.

With Lingard leaving his role at Batley at the end of the season and being full time assistant coach at Cas next season I’d be surprised if Kear isn’t announced as interim coach tomorrow with a view to a contract if results are positive.

But is it the right time for Powell or kear, no one knows.
Powell won’t come back while there’s certain people at the club.
Kear is too long in the tooth now.

Lingard/Kear worked together before,so would already have a good idea of each others methods,styles and personalities. Would have seemed a smooth fit for the short term. We’re a team currently short of a lot of things,especially time,while I have a lot of time for Ward I would have got Kear in for the run in.

I’ve sort of come around to it being a free hit now. I think whoever comes in will be free from criticism as they’re only playing the hand they are dealt and we are all well aware there are much bigger issues at play.

We are likely to never know what the backdrop to LR and AL’s tenure was.

I think most people are pretty sure Wakey have the wet sail and we are odds on not to stay up, so win win really. Nothing would surprise me!
For what it is worth, I like Danny Ward as a player and at London!

The person we want has to be a motivator.

We haven’t time to change the attacking and defensive setups. He also hasn’t time to teach mellor to pass left or widdop to take on the line.

We do need some continuity, so we have to keep Linguard and Murrell. We can’t afford a whole new team to come in and not know where everything is and where we train etc…

This needs to be a 6 match deal and then review at the end with no promises. Dave Woods got caught out with them and should have been given a chance in super League with us.

My choice has to be Kear. He knows Linguard, he knows Cas.

Kear would fit exactly what we need right now. Local, knows the club and history and has a proven track record of motivating players when the odds are against them.

We don’t need someone coming in and tinkering with the squad to see what works, there’s no time for that. In a different situation Ward might have been a good call but the club don’t have that luxury - they blew that by appointing Radford and Last.

Give Kear 6 matches and see what happens after that. At the moment we still control our future, win all the remaining matches and we’ll stay up.

You seen who we’ve got, not a chance of winning them all, if any.
Let’s see how we go v wakey, win that and the moral should climb.
Though I did say when we beat Leeds at magic, our season now starts……I was wrong.

As a quick fix Kear would have been my choice, this situation is made for him. Long term Ward is agood choice but i’m not sure he’ll keep us up.

As I said before i have come to terms with relegation and i think survival will just lead to another crap season next year.
I am looking forward to being competetive next year and not just making up the numbers in Superleague.
All that could change with a win at the polecats.
I feel that Lingard is a good fit for us at the moment , he knows the championship and him and the club with his own squad can grow together, if that means him working as assistant to Kear or whoever for the remainder of the season, so be it.

There isnt a queue of millionaires waiting to buy us o0ut so i think we should cut the board a bit of slack, we are stuck with them for the forseeable future.
we have to play the hand we are dealt and its not the first time we have been in the brown stuff is it?
