I can’t believe they’d vote it in.
To be successful you need a relatively injury free season and IMG want the best players on show each week. This would be anti competitive.
Macca and westy want to play every second of every game and we are better with them. This rule would make it mandatory to play scratch teams in meaningless games.
Whilst I’m not happy, I don’t like the idea of independent head knock assessors at matches, if a clubs qualified doctor can’t spot a head injury and the player passes the on field check, why do we need someone else there?
Look at last year when they brought in the green card. Miller was taken out with a high shot, the doctor came on and was testing him. The ref saw it as time wasting and he was sent off for 2 minutes, so we played a man light. Miller, I’m not sure whether he stayed off or came on and then went off virtually immediately, missed the rest of the match, then the next match with the protocols. So the ref went against protocols and weakened our team. The player causing the head knock was subsequently banned and so effectively we got double punished, as the player was unavailable to the next team playing his team. Having yet another person only adds to the belief they’d be biased.
The assessor would have to be a specialist in their field, would there be enough of these people to go round?
