Can’t make it up for the game tonight so I’ll chip in with an update if there’s a gap. Hoping for more of the same as last week,KR seem to be a free flowing team so gonna have to defend well and make it an arm wrestle. Whatever happens a repeat of last weeks effort is my minimum requirement.

Half time 12-6 to KR. Possession and territory massively in their favour,still too many handling errors from Cas. We looked better once Namo and Putt came on but still one dimensional in attack. Qareqare impressed defensively against Hall but not managing to get on the ball. Honest opinion KR be disappointed to only be 6 points up.

Constant pressure from KR but Cas muscle up in defence. Hoy break takes us upfield. Crazy offload from KR gifts us the ball and Milnes takes advantage to scoot over, converts his own try. Don’t know how but it’s 12 apiece.

Agreed,efforts been there last two games but we’re trying to force it too much when it’s not really on. What we’re still lacking is a decent half. Defensively massive improvement last two games.

I didn’t enjoy the watch, but we have kept 2 games close that we mostly expected to get tonked. So that is something, albeit the league doesn’t reward plucky efforts.

On the plus, definitely competed I agree with others was amazed we were only down 6-12 at the leveller. The levelling try two great contributions from Westy in that set. What I glean from that is there is a tiny bit of execution and quality missing from us improving greatly.

That said, no points from two better efforts and Hoy looked to be on one leg, see what Saints brings us on election results day!

To say we’ve just been breath by Wigan and kr by a combined total of 3 points was unthinkable at the start of the year.

We lack a bit of quality but we are getting better. The left side looks settled, the right side of getting better. Qereqere, whom must people state was poor defensively, was outstanding and against the biggest winner there is.

If there was a miss from me it was the marker defence due kr second try but that is only a little thing all in all.

We do look naive in certain areas and while I’d expect that from some of the younger players a couple of our senior players have been caught out switching off round the ruck.
Loved seeing Wigan giving their young half a run out against the Broncos last night,that lad has got some talent and it was a perfect game for them to give him some minutes against what is effectively a championship side. We have Jenson Windley in our Reserves/Academy and while he’s not near the Wigan lads stage of development he’s an excellent prospect,if there was ever a season to give someone a taste of Super League action it’s this one. London away on the horizon I’d give him a run.

Hepworth the thing is these grade a guaranteed teams can blood the youngsters without fear and rest the older members. We can’t as we need to be higher in the table for the IMG points.

Hull have been called out by Wilkin for doing it and when you look at the player numbers, they may be the first team to have a player number 50 in the squad and playing.

Our main games to win are the teams around us and it’s never good to blood juniors against the better teams as they are good enough to target them.

RaoulDuke Good point,well made but if we remain under the auspices of IMG for the foreseeable a club like Cas is always going to be vulnerable so when are we going to blood these youngsters? I’d rather do it out of choice rather than necessity, I have admittedly only seen Windley live twice but on both occasions he moved the ball well,has a decent offload and offers a running threat. Defensively he wouldn’t be at Milllers level but he was solid and energetic. Would I throw him in against one of the top teams? No, but against a London side of very limited attacking ability I don’t think he’d let us down.

Hepworth is be happy to see him if we have an injury to Miller or mines. Especially if we have macca playing and able to cover.

The youngsters do need gametime and some are ready from the off. But some need to play at a lower level and build. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a local prospect get into the squad. It sounds like we have some decent prospects coming through.
