They’re making a mockery of the sport. The RFL need to take immediate action instead of putting their head in the sand and hoping it will go away. They’ve mentioned that they’ll only be able to field 15 players this weekend, it’s not good enough and the longer this goes on the worse it looks.

I think it’s the situation they’re in rather than Salford being awkward,they are clearly living week to week and only selling when they have to to make ends meet. There’s an interview on the Facebook RL banter page with a current player and they’re clearly being given the full mushroom treatment,kept in the dark and fed on bull****. If we are fed up with it you’ve gotta feel for those players whose livelihood is at stake. If it’s true the current owner group are trading from an insolvent position and are going around with a begging bowl to fund the deal the higher ups in the RL need to be having a good hard look at theirselves,it’s almost criminally negligent on their behalf.

…..and fair play to those Salford lads who ran their blood to water,lost cause or not you have to praise their effort,they were gassed with twenty minutes left,Sangarre was playing on one leg, props giving it their all for the full 80,a couple of youngsters were out on their feet and Brierley was a real leader. A lot of coaches would give their high teeth for a bunch of lads who put in that much effort. Even the Wigan fans recognised it when they went over in the last minute. The fact it was disallowed just goes to show you don’t always get your just rewards.

yorky Confirmed. All very quiet too on what’s happening at the club. We’re 6 fixtures in now and nothing has been sorted either from Salford or the RFL. I’d give them a deadline and if they can’t meet it then remove them from the league. Only downside to that is we’d be back on 0 points.

Another damning report in the papers,seems like the clubs potential owners are mired in a legal case in the U.S. They have next to no time to reach a solution and get the Salford deal across the line,players are due to be paid on Thursday and apparently some are threatening to walk if It doesn’t happen. The mess just keeps getting messier with the RL shamefully doing not a lot.

And it’s being reported that they only have 170k of this year’s central funding remaining. Unless the takeover is fully sorted by the end of next month (and i can’t see that happening) then they are highly likely finished.

TheFirm Afraid so,the article suggested they’d have to go into receivership which would mean automatic relegation,though apparently if this were to happen they have other suitors who are waiting on such an eventuality and would then step in to rebuild the club. Either way the futures not exactly rosey.

If they had viable suitors they wouldn’t wait until they have no players. It’s a mess but the rfl are partly to blame. Strong leadership wouldn’t have got us to this.

These new “owners” are not interested in RL. Its a land grab, thats all, and Salford RLFC will be seen as just be collateral damage

The RFL and IMG have a lot to answer for but the real blame lies with the previous owners spending what they didn’t have over the last few years

Inching ever closer to entering administration,to be honest I’m amazed they haven’t already. A lengthy list of creditors spearheaded by the Inland Revenue who are the last people you want to be messing with,defaulting on loans and now the Council have stopped the negotiations on the ground sale. Even if their debt was a fraction of what I’ve seen quoted there seems little hope.

Surely they will lose points under the IMG scoring system now. It will put them below 12 and York will replace them next season in SL.
They have the best ground in the Championship, a massive catchment area, the best ladies team, by the end of the season could be Championship winners & 1965 Cup winners, and not far of 12 points now.

Looking forward to the game,a bit disappointed a couple of the youngsters haven’t made the squad,ideal opportunity to have given them some of them time of the bench. As good a squad as we could put out though and the win is important. Light on numbers as Salford are they play for each other and have a real spirit about them,thinking they might be able to keep it tight first half but the depth we’ve got should see us through by a couple of scores.

A spirited Salford side and their 6 - Nikorima is a solid player. Would prefer him over Asi if I’m honest.

Overall a decent performance, a few wobbles in defence but they never really looked like they’d push us.

I’m more worried about our attendance. Just over 5k there today - don’t we have 7k+ season ticket holders? That’s a lot of fans not attending and pretty embarrassing when Salford brought very respectful following when you consider their off field issues.

Matt Hardly surprising the low crowd, when you look at some of our performance s this season. The only sides we have beaten are the bottom two, and that is probably the only teams we will beat all season.

Tbh Matt, can’t blame the fans.
Some of the rugby we’ve churned up as been diabolical. We have a good core of 5k who turn up through thick and thin.
We’ve always been asked to do our bit, which we have, time the club replayed them.

As for the game, hoy was superb, Mustapha and asi put a good stint in, in defence, both got a deserved try.
Still need another middle, walked through us a couple of times.

Let’s hope this is the start of a run of decent results. Just the loiners next week.

Sometimes for those of us who have a long journey you have to make a choice,Leeds on a Saturday afternoon is a far more attractive proposition than Salford at half five on a Sunday. That said I enjoyed the game after the shock of Maguire team selection and the first ten minutes which was a comedy of errors,hard to judge any improvement on our part given the opposition but Hoy was a real class act,Mellor was his usual solid self and I thought Cini continues to get better. Milnes kicked well but did little else,and we actually saw a flash of skill from ASI we haven’t seen since the Aussie highlight reels,there’s a player in there if only the coaches can drag it out. We have to improve to be competitive and I can only see a couple of games we might have a chance in Hull maybe,Huddersfield and Warrington (Who were very poor today)if they rest a few with the cup in mind. Those aside I think it’s a case of looking for positives in losing performances until Chris Chester can get some action on recruitment.
